Who invented WIFI?

Hedwig Kiesler, better known by her actress name Hedy Lamarr, Austrian, naturalized American, was born on November 9, 1914 in Vienna. She died on January 19, 2000 in Casselberry at the age of 85 (in Florida, USA).

A very beautiful renowned actress, film producer and above all a genius inventor, she was only honored for her ingenious creation in 1997, after a chaotic life. She was posthumously admitted in 2014 to the “National Inventors Hall of fames”.

We owe her the invention of WiFi with a patent application filed in 1941 with the composer George Antheil, pianist and inventor like her, and free of rights for the American army, thus participating in the war effort during this troubled period. This invention of radio guidance, encrypted and with frequency hopping, was to be used to guide missiles discreetly.

With this incredible contribution, this technology is still used today with WiFi, but also exploited among other things for cellular and satellite communications, but also GPS and Bluetooth!
