Do I have to get my network cables through my Electrician?

An electrician has the right to do your computer wiring, but often he is not a network specialist. In most cases, your cables will not be terminated (plugs will not be installed, wired and tested) and therefore the cable will not have been checked.

If a cable is cut or damaged during installation, it will have to be completely redone. If that same cable runs too close to a neon light or electrical or electronic system, it will likely need to be reinstalled as well. The network cable must be able to operate at a certain frequency and free from radio noise. Networking professionals have specialized (and often very expensive) devices to test and validate the compliance of installations, so that your computer network functions correctly and above all, optimally.

The wrong cable can affect the efficiency of an entire network. Think about it before entrusting your installations to your electrician. Ask him the question to know if he is able to complete and verify your computer installation. If not, don't take a chance. The savings could cost you dearly just to correct and finish the job.
